Tavish comes to Atlanta from his undergraduate studies at Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, where he majored in trombone performance and received the James H. Hall Prize in Musicology. Since his move south, Tavish has worked as a trombonist, musicologist, and chorister. Outside of the ABO, his talents may be seen from the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, where he is principal trombonist, to the liner notes of Gothic Records’ upcoming release featuring Deanna Joseph. Tavish lives in Decatur with his wife, Elizabeth.
“I am incredibly excited to work with this fantastic ensemble as we approach its 25th season! The ABO’s unification of historical scholarship and performance practice is skillful and inspiring,” said Daly. “Together, we’ll work to arouse Atlanta’s affections.”
