London was home to a number of public concert series that came and went from the end of the 17th century to this day. In addition to these regular series, several special events were celebrated. Concerts in honor of St. Cecilia, patroness of music, were held annually around her feast day, November 22nd. Our concert offers audiences a rare chance to hear two of the most beloved works dedicated to St. Cecilia by two of London’s most beloved composers — Henry Purcell and G.F. Handel — in the same evening.
